This individual has undertaken the module Sociological Practice – Becoming a Social Scientist. The assessment strategy for this module is related to the learning outcomes in the following way:
Component A is a 25 minute group and enquiry based presentation held in class. It is designed to assess applied knowledge of methods of investigation, presentation and computer skills, time management, teamwork, analytical and information gathering skills. Marks are allocated to the work produced, rather than on an individual basis to reinforce the importance of teamwork and collaboration, as important employability aspects of professional development.
Component B is a written reflective assignment designed to assess understanding of the relevance of sociology to every-day situations and dilemmas alongside academic and writing skills.
The goal of this activity is the production of a presentation to the seminar group and a topic proposal submitted to the seminar tutor, which will establish the viability of the research project.
